Joseph .V. Fernandez alias joy has a unique passion for collecting traditional musical instruments.
Joy runs a musical instrument store, Joy musicals at Trivandrum for the past thirty years.His liking for the old and obsolete musical instruments started twelve years back.
Since then he has been able to procure more than 2000 musical instruments such as Chippila, Pondhi, Mutt and could play around1600 of them.
Joy owns a workshop to manufacture these instruments and teaches the younger generation its art and craft.
Joy hopes to preserve these collections of long lost instruments by creating a suitable museum.
Joy has also penned a book on the traditional and folk instruments of Kerala, which is yet to be published.
